A little about us …

Hospitality and a passion for travel is in our blood … so the tourism industry was very appealing to both of us, from an early age. We have been a part of this vibrant industry for most of our lives. Josef’s earliest memories were of working at his aunt and uncles ski lodge in the Austrian alps, during the school holidays. A cooking apprenticeship, would eventually lead Josef to travel and work overseas, firstly to New Zealand where he worked for the Intercontinental Hotel in Auckland. He then went onto the Hilton Hotel Chain, first in Toronto, Canada, and then in Dusseldorf, Germany. In 1984 we settled in Sydney, where Josef took up a position as executive chef at the Sebel Townhouse.

I also worked at the Intercontinental Hotel in Auckland, then the St Kilda Road Travelodge in Melbourne, before travelling to Europe. On my return to Sydney I began working in administrative roles, while undertaking a Bachelor of Arts. I also became interested in natural therapies, which led to Diploma’s in Remedial Massage, Reflexology and Zen Shiatsu. In later years I completed my Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) Psychology, and my Diploma’s in Counselling, Hypnotherapy, and Ayurveda Clinical Studies, as well as becoming a Beauty Therapist.

In early 1996 and after 12 years in Sydney we made the move to Maleny with our 3 young sons, where we established Lillypillys. Having spent much of our lives in hospitality … providing fine food, quality service and excellence were at the forefront of our minds. 20 years on, we are still thoroughly enjoying life at Lillypillys, and we look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise soon.
